Qualcuno saprebbe consigliarmi un buon libro sulla storia postale della Baviera e in particolare sul periodo della Repubblica Sovietica di Baviera e lo Stato Libero di Baviera (1919 -1920)?

I just Browsed thru my booklist. The Book in the link can be recommended, if you understand german and have no issues with Reading the old (gothic) letters.

The First issue of this Book was realeased in 1908, so the last 20 years of Bavarian postal history are missing ...

But: After 1870/71 (the founding of the german reich) there is no bavarian history. Bavaria was Part of the reich, and all Important decissions were made in Berlin by the Reichpostministerium. Monaco di Baveria was (postal) Not much more then a local Direction with own stamps.

The author of the „Standard“ Book on the postal history of the Late Kaiserreich/ early Weimar Republik is Sauter. His book „Geschichte der Reichspost“ has different Volumens, the First Volume is Writer by Heinrich von Stephan (Geschichte der preußischen Post) which is Easy to get. The later Sauter Volumen are expensive.

I suggest, that you Try to get a Biography on Kurt Eisner, possible you will find one in a left Wing bookstore - Look under anarchism. When i read Soviet Bavaria in your question it run cold down my back. Sure, some of the actors in Munich were socialist (and later became communists) but the main persons in Bavaria were anarchists.

A good first hand account on the revolution in Germany is Eduard Bernstein- Die Revolution in Deutschland. the author was one of the theoretical leaders of the SPD. If you are more left wing, there is also a book by Trotsky on the revolution in Germany.

As far as I understand the postal history of that time, there is no „postal history“, meaning that beside the issue dates of the stamps there were no dates to look for. The „räterepublik“ in Munich (and only in Munich) were only a few days, same the „revolution“ in Berlin. Possible a letter took a few days longer this days - but Reichspost and Military had worked continuous. remember, postal workers of all ranks at that time were Beamte - they had not have the right to strike, and I doubt that there were many of them not working during the hot days of the revolution.
