La casa d'aste americana Paradise Valley ha indetto per il 19 marzo un'asta che viene cosi' presentata:
''It is with great pleasure we present a sale dedicated to the works of master forger Jean de Sperati. In a class of his own, for more than 50 years he created some of the most skilled forgeries seen in philately.
His works are well-documented in the British Philatelic Association’s “The Work of Jean de Sperati” published in 1955 and in Robson Lowe’s & Dr. Carl Walske’s “The Work of Jean de Sperati II” published by the The Royal Philatelic Society in 2001. The second work, usually referred to as “Sperati II”, shed the light on about 100 previously unknown forgeries .
Dr. Carl Walske FRPSL dedicated much time and effort to gather a remarkable holding of Sperati’s forgeries and considering the additional discoveries the most complete such holding ever assembled. Well-known philatelist and stamp dealer Richard Frajola acquired the holding in 2019, expanded it significantly and created a beautifully presented collection on exhibition pages. This collection can still be viewed on Frajola’s website: sperati.org. The collection was subsequently sold at auction in Germany in 2020. Our sale includes Sperati forgeries from various countries that were included in the second published work “Sperati II”. Some of these are quite rare and only a handful are known to exist. These are identified in the sale as “ex Walske”. Further we are offering all the France forgeries from the exhibition collection that was mounted by Richard Frajola. Apart from being obviously France, these are identified as ex. Walske/Frajola''.
I falsi si riferiscono a: Argentina, Colombia, Cipro, Francia, Stati Tedeschi,Gibilterra, Islanda, Lagos, Terranova, Peru, Filippine, Spagna, Svezia, Uruguay.
