Ciao a tutti,
"The way to get Antarctic postmarks and philatelic mail from Australian
stations in Antarctica is to use Australia Post.
We don't sell stamps - they are produced and sold by Australia Post. I
think these web URLs will give you the information you want.
http://www.auspost.com.au/philatelic/st ... mpshop.asp and click on
the small section labelled 'stamps' - the caption says "View all current
Australian and Australian Territories issues here." AAT stamps will be
in there, assuming there is a current stamp series available for the
Australian Antarctic Territory.
For international postage rates from Australia, see
http://www1.auspost.com.au/international/ The collector should put a stamped, self addressed envelope with
Australian stamps, ready for cancellation, into another envelope.
The special envelope inside, which our station postmaster will return to
you, must bear Australian stamps for cancellation at our station. You
can buy Australian postage stamps from overseas by writing to Australia
Post. The postage needed will depend on the size and weight of the
envelope. Postage from Australia / Antarctica to Europe and the USA
starts at $1.50 for a standard business-size envelope, then $3, then
$4.50.
The outer envelope should be addressed to
The Postmaster
Casey station, Antarctica, (or the station of your choice)
c/o Australian Antarctic Division
Channel Highway
Kingston
Tasmania 7050
Australia.
Mail addressed to our stations in Antarctica is held at the Antarctic
Division in Kingston until the next voyage. There are no voyages during
winter. When our ship arrives at the station, our Station Postmaster
opens the mail, franks the stamps and may add a few special postmarks
from the station. Then your envelope is returned, usually on the same
ship. On arrival in Tasmania it goes into the normal Australia Post
system for return to the sender / addressee in Australia or overseas.

Ciao!
