Germany - FAQ

Messaggio da sfj »

amici,

I've just posted the web site addresses of the two german "associazione di periti" to this forum.
And I think, this is an information, which should be an a FAQ section to this sub forum.

So if any of the Admins / Moderators is willing to create a FAQ (which is presented at the beginning of this sub forum) here some sinformation:

*) Catalogues

The leading catalogue for Germany is the MICHEL, editid by the Schwaneberger Verlag. (http://www.briefmarken.de/). There are other catalogues like the DNK (http://www.leuchtturm.com/), which is a lot cheaper.

*) Philatelic Experts

In Germany there are currently two "associations of philatelistic experts" the Bund Philatelistischer Prüfer (http://www.bpp.de/) and the Verband Philatelistischer Prüfer (http://www.vppev.de/). The later one is the newer, smaller one, which was founded by some ex-members of the BPP, which had left the BPP. The BPP has very strict rules, who can be a member - e.g. when you are getting too old - you have to stop expertising.

*) Organized collectors:

Most serious German collectors are member of the Bund Deutscher Philatelisten (http://www.bdph.de/). It is possible to be a "direct member", but most common is that someone is a member of a local association, which is member of the BDPh.

There are currently 169 "Arbeitsgemeinschaften" - working groups - recognised by the BDPh
(http://www.bdph.de/index.php?id=1255, which has certain topics of research. Eg there is a working group on each of the "anticchi stati tedesci".

...

More to come?

Sorry for writing english. My Italian is not good enough to write Italian. So if somebody translate it - if nessessary - its fine with me. (No need to answer in english. Reading Italian is a lot easier than writing it.
I had 7 years Latin at school (and the links to google translate) ...

Re: FAQ per Germania?

Hi! I'm now trying to buy a non-specialized Germany catalogue, mainly for checklist purposes. I have a little, cute 1994 Philex that's almost destroyed for the use :ris:
What do you advice me? Michel Junior, Philex, DNK or another? I was searching on the net some photo snippets, but I couldn't find none.
Thanks :D

I would take the DNK - it is still below 10 Euro and smaller then the Michel Junior.

I have not seen any new Philex for some years, but I think there have been some merges in that business. The current DNK looks very much like the older Philex.
