1877 - Annulli a sbarre sui Cent. 20 del 1867

Saluti a tutti,

sfogliando su internet le numerosissime buste affrancate con questo valore, mi è saltata all'occhio questa come 'stranezza'. Infatti di norma questo fb lo si vede annullato col classico timbro a punti, ma in questo caso venne annullato 'a sbarre'. Ho fatto un piccolo controllo ed in effetti ho scoperto che gli annulli a sbarre vennero introdotti a metà 1877, ed infatti questa lettera è datata 13 Luglio. Questo fb ebbe validità fino al 31 Agosto, ma già dal 1° Agosto venne sostituito dalla nuova emissione 20 c. arancio, per cui la possibilità di venire annullato a sbarre rientrerebbe solo per un paio di mesi, tra Giugno e Agosto 1877. Non è quindi un ritrovamento molto comune, anche perchè presumo che gli annulli a sbarre sostituirono quelli a punti in un arco di tempo più o meno lungo.
Bene, ora mi metterò alla ricerca del caso 'opposto', cioè il 20 c. arancio annullato a 'punti'...

Thanks for your information about these cancels, unfortunately my catalogue wasn't very specific about the introduction of them, just writing "in the middle of 1877" for the generic ones and "the end of 1877" for the duplex ones. From your nice site I learn that the information is not correct.
Anyway, I see that the post offices using these cancels at the beginning of 1877 were very few: Firenze, Genova, Milano, Roma and Torino. Of these, it looks like only Firenze and Roma had a widespread use during the first months, according to the documents presented.
My compliments for those 'six bars' experimental cancels of Firenze, I'd love to have them in my collection!

ho trovato questo nuovo documento con il 20 c. annullato a sbarre nell'ultimissimo periodo di validità: 30 Giugno 1877. Ho guardato sul tuo sito e per quanto riguarda Brescia (numerale 6) presenti come prima data conosciuta il 28 Ottobre. Questa è di quattro mesi antecedente. another proof to my theory, that the Italian post followed the plan laid out in the Bulletino postale (April 1877), to provide every Direction with a "Bollatrice", and that they have done it fast.

Every source that tells different years (like 1878/1879) say this due to missing material.
